During the housing boom in the early 2000s, construction companies imported millions of pounds of Chinese drywall. Much of that supply of material may be tainted with chemicals, fumigants or fungicides which have been reported to give off toxic fumes leading to corrosion of copper wiring, tubing, and potentially serious health concerns. Reported symptoms include respiratory problems, sinus problems, fatigue, and a host of other ailments. Class action lawsuits have been filed in Florida, Louisiana, Virginia and Ohio.

Health Concerns over Contaminated Chinese Drywall
Recent reports have pointed to a new concern in housing construction, a contamination of drywall imported from China. Claims by homeowners have begun surfacing alleging that the imported drywall is releasing toxic chemicals which are corroding copper wires, tarnishing silver, and most importantly, causing health problems for the tenants. Shipments of Chinese drywall were readily available and cheaper than drywall manufactured in the U.S.
